This dreamy family session in the Columbia River Gorge was actually a shootout that I attended, hosted by @chelseabelozerphotography. She planned every detail to perfection and this location is such an incredibly beautiful place! It turns out that attending this shootout and working through the creative process of curating this gallery would be a turning point for me and ultimately lead to a pivot in my business goals.
You see, when I originally set out to start a photography business, the goal was always to eventually niche down to elopements and adventure weddings. I am currently transitioning my business and portfolio in that direction, but during this particular session, something inside me changed. I realized how much I love capturing these moments for families. I realized I was smiling and excited and creatively inspired the entire time, as well as throughout the editing process. I was in my element. So while I am so very excited to cover weddings and elopements, I don't think I will ever be exclusively a wedding photographer.
You know when you have one of those sudden moments of clarity? During the Cantele's session I had one where it became so clear to me that as a storytelling photographer, when you niche down you limit the chapters of your clients lives that you will get to tell. It's always been such an honor for me when I am invited into the these sacred spaces whether it be capturing a couples love story, a mother's pregnancy, the love of a family, or a brand new life that has just entered the world. They are all equally meaningful seasons in life. In this moment I knew that my books will always remain open to capture every chapter of your story.
From the original love story that started your family, to the expansion of that love as your family grows.
I can't wait to go on an adventure and document whatever season of life you find yourself in today.
